Africa Rafiki does not have political aims, nor is it engaged in political matters. Since 2001 it has been recognized as a non-profit organisation (ONLUS), operating following two specific modalities: 1. In Kenya, where its volunteers go regularlynot only to build and fixslums, hygienic facilities, medical centers, schools, canteens and laboratories, but also to provide medicines, specialist medical examinations,first aid, small surgeries and medications and courses about health education. 2. On thelocal territory (in Italy), where volunteers organise public events and conferences, theatre and musical performances, markets and “solidarity dinners”in order to raise awareness among people and gather funds for its projects in Kenya.
